Reading Tarot and Oracle Cards - Tapping Into Your Own Intuition
How do you know if you are "good" at reading Oracle or Tarot cards? It can be a very daunting task if you overthink it. What if you give the wrong answers? What if you're giving bad advice? What if you have to deliver bad news to someone?
The truth is that reading someone's cards (or your own) comes down to following your intuition.
Always pick up a deck that feels right to you. Whether it is an Oracle deck or Tarot deck it should always feel right to you.
Every deck should have a guide to begin with. You will want to consult the guide before you start giving or receiving information from the cards. After a while you will get the hang of what the cards represent and using intuition you will also know what the cards are telling you.
Oracle cards are a great first step into card readings. They are a little less restrictive and do not follow the Rider-Wait 78 card formula. They can be more creative and more informative base on which deck you gravitate towards. Oracle cards are also "whatever feels right" cards. In other words, if you want to pull out 3 cards in the morning for some insight, that is perfectly fine. If you need more depth for your day feel free to pull 7 cards.
Tarot cards can seem more intimidating when you are first starting out. They too have guides and explanations for each card. There is also a more specific order to tarot cards. Another good beginners guide is to get an altar cloth with the card placements patterned onto the cloth. There are many options available so again, go with your gut on which feels right to you.
They are also supposed to be read in a specific order- lead by the person asking the questions. If you allow your querent to ask the questions they are looking for answers to aloud you should read the cards facing them. If they are looking for a general reading and not asking specific questions you would technically be asking the questions and the cards should be read facing you. If it just feels off to read in that direction you should listen to that same intuition and do whatever feels most natural. What feels the most natural may also change per person so it is a good practice to keep that in mind.
The best way to find ansers to your questions is to ask any and all questions clearly. Both types of cards are said to be connected to you so you should always feel comfortable being straightforward with your query and be open and accepting to the answers your deck gives. There is really nothing to be scared of. Keep in mind that even the Death card in tarot doesn't mean literal death, just the death of something that needs to come to an end for you. Endings mean new beginnings! And that is usually a good thing.
Practice makes perfect so try these techniques out with friends and family you trust before reading for strangers. Allow your intuition to guide you and accept the answers you receive. And most importantly, trust yourself. Your intuition is a divine sense meant to guide you to making the right decisions- the decks are just there to help you get there.
